Russia's chief war criminal Vladimir Putin is "not serious about negotiations at this stage" of the war in Ukraine. The dictator is still living in dreams of a Russian victory, so instead of retreating, he redoubled his efforts on the front.

At the same time, only a Ukrainian counterattack will form the prospects for ending the conflict. This was stated by the director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns, according to CNN.

According to him, the planned counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is now extremely important to change the situation on the battlefield. Burns stressed that there is a lot at stake in the coming months.

The CIA director also noted that it is the Ukrainian army's progress on the battlefield that will shape the prospects for future diplomacy and an end to the conflict. At the same time, Burns is convinced that the Kremlin dictator is not serious about negotiations at this stage of the war.

"Instead of backing down, he has redoubled his efforts. The Russian president thinks he can crush Ukraine and the West," Burns said.

The CIA director stated that Ukraine and its president had given a strong response to Russian aggression. For his part, dictator Putin was deeply mistaken when he hoped for a blitzkrieg and the absence of resistance from the Ukrainian people.

In addition, Burns emphasized the importance of continued U.S. support for Ukraine, including through intelligence sharing.

As a reminder, United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Ukraine had every opportunity to succeed in a counterattack. He noted that many Ukrainian servicemen were trained abroad by instructors from allied countries.

Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov assured that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing a counterattack, the main task of which is to weaken the occupants' defense and possibly break it.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to misinform the international community and show that he is allegedly trying to wage a war of attrition against Ukraine
