In Ternopil, UOC-MP's right to use land plot terminated

On Monday, April 17, the Ternopil City Council decided to terminate the right to use the land plot of the Ternopil Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate. The deputies at the session supported the issue by a majority vote.

The land plot at 1 Yevhen Konovalets Street returned to the ownership of the community. This was announced on Facebook by Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal.

The right to use the land plot at this address is withdrawn from the diocese of the UOC-MP from the day of the vote. It is worth noting that the session was held exclusively to consider a single issue.

According to the mayor, the urgent decision was made in view of the public outcry and the demands of the residents of the regional centre. Three factions of the city council demanded that the UOC-MP be deprived of its land plot. The Conciliation Board approved the draft decision, after which a session was convened to approve the issue.

"Today, at an extraordinary session of the Ternopil City Council, a decision was made to terminate the right to use the land plot to the administration of the Ternopil Diocese of the Moscow Church. It is a plot of land at 1 Yevhen Konovalets Street in Ternopil. I am grateful to the members of the city council who supported this issue," said the mayor of Ternopil.

Recall that as of April 2023, 70% of Ukrainians support the idea of banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in our country. Over the past two years, the number of people who share this opinion has increased.

Earlier it was reported that on April 11, deputies of the Volyn Regional Council supported the ban on the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in the region. The 54 deputies voted unanimously for this.
