How to get rid of mold at home: grandma's trick

Mold develops in a damp environment and brings many problems with it. Mold spores can be harmful to health, and the problem itself can hide in unnoticeable places - under carpets or wallpaper on the walls. But you can get rid of it. And even with the help of improvised means.

The Sante Plus publication told us about two proven "grandmotherly" methods. They require ingredients available at any supermarket or pharmacy. You should start fighting mold as soon as you notice its first signs. When cleaning with any of these methods, protect yourself with household gloves and a respirator.

Borax and vinegar

Sodium tetraborate (borax) in combination with plain white vinegar is a good way to fight mold. To make a suitable spray, you need to take:

• 2 tablespoons of borax;
• a quarter cup of white vinegar;
• 2 cups of hot water.

All ingredients are thoroughly mixed in a spray bottle, and then the resulting mixture is applied to the areas where mold appears. The product should be left on for 60 minutes. After that, the treated surface is wiped with a sponge, rinsed thoroughly with water and dried with a cloth or towel.

Baking soda, soap and vinegar

This cleaning is carried out in three stages. The first step is to prepare a paste of baking soda and a small amount of water, apply it to the surface and leave it for an hour, then thoroughly wipe the treated areas with a stiff brush. Next, rinse the mechanically cleaned surface and proceed to the second stage.

To complete the cleaning, you need to take a soapy solution. It can be a solution of dishwashing detergent, laundry gel, or laundry soap. After treatment, it is washed off and the wall is dried.

The third step is to treat the surface with a solution of white vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio. This should destroy the remaining fungal spores. The product can be left to dry, then rinse the surface and ventilate the room.
