They will not only kill various microorganisms inside the appliance but also destroy limescale on its parts, which can lead to breakdowns over time.

To properly clean your washing machine, you should run a hot wash cycle. Instead of using detergent, add 1-2 cups of white vinegar or 2-3 sachets of citric acid to the tray. The clothes should not be in the drum. This cleaning should be repeated every 3-4 months to keep the washer in good condition.

As for the rubber seal, it also needs to be treated with vinegar or citric acid solution. However, it should be done more often: once a month. Dilute the vinegar with water 1:1 or dilute the acid powder in the ratio of one sachet per liter of water. The solution should be quite warm. Pour some of it under the elastic band and soak the laundry detergent tray in the rest. After 30 minutes, scrub the tray with a brush and the gasket with a sponge. All the mold should be easily removed.
