How to clean rubber in the washing machine

If the clothes have an unpleasant musty odor after washing, it may be time to clean the washing machine. The machine should be cleaned regularly, otherwise, mold and limescale can build up in the drum and in the powder container.

There is one effective way to clean it that is not only fast and effective but also safe for the environment and does not cost much. Informacion magazine has revealed how to clean rubber in a washing machine.

Why does the rubber in the washing machine turn black?

First of all, it is important to understand why this dirt appears. The main cause is usually the accumulation of mold and detergent residue, which can cause unpleasant odors and reduce washing efficiency.

How to prepare a special solution

Add vinegar to a container of hot water in a 1:1 ratio. Vinegar is a natural detergent and disinfectant that can help eliminate mold and neutralize odors.

Soak a clean cloth or sponge in a solution of vinegar and water. Then rub the rubber of the washing machine thoroughly, paying special attention to creases and corners where dirt and mold accumulate.

Wait about 5-10 minutes. This time will allow the vinegar to penetrate and kill the mold and dirt, making it easier to clean.

Additional cleaning with baking soda

If you're dealing with particularly tough stains, you can follow up the vinegar cleaning with a sprinkle of baking soda. Baking soda acts as a mild abrasive to help remove black mold.

After cleaning, use a clean, damp cloth to remove any vinegar or baking soda residue. It is very important to dry the rubber thoroughly after cleaning to prevent further mold formation.

To prevent the accumulation of dirt in the future, leave the door of the washing machine open after each use: this will ensure sufficient air circulation.
