How to clean door handles

Doorknobs can become a real breeding ground for bacteria if you neglect regular cleaning. There is no need to use harsh or toxic products to get rid of germs.

Simple, affordable ingredients can do the trick. Sante Plus has selected some selected some effective tips, some of which are sure to surprise you.

Cleaning experts recommend rubbing lemon on door handles. Lemon acid has disinfectant properties and can deeply clean surfaces of dirt and plaque.

The easiest thing to do is to cut the lemon in half and rub one half on the handle. After that, rinse the cleaned area with a damp sponge and wipe with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

Lemon plus baking soda

If the dirt cannot be cleaned with lemon, mix 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a container to form a paste. The door handle should be thickly smeared with the mixture and left for a few minutes, then remove the remaining paste with a cloth soaked in water.

Coca-Cola trick

Chrome handles can be cleaned using Diet Coke. This carbonated beverage contains citric acid, which dissolves rust marks and deeply removes stains. It's best to buy Coke without sugar to make rinsing easier.

A little-known ketchup tip

Ketchup can be used not only as an accompaniment to spaghetti, hamburgers or fries. Experts say that thanks to its acidity and high vinegar content, ketchup can dissolve dirt and grease on doorknobs. This tiphack may seem a little strange, but experienced hostesses say - it really works. Apply a thin layer of ketchup to the handle and after waiting 5 minutes, wash the handle with a damp sponge.

Salt, flour and vinegar

Another technique for cleaning doorknobs is to use salt, flour and vinegar. Salt is known for its disinfectant effect, and flour removes difficult stains.

Ingredients needed:

  • salt - 1 tablespoon
  • flour - 1 tablespoon
  • white vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • hot water
