How to clean a cast iron frying pan

Cooks prefer cast iron skillets because of their strength, durability, and reliability. Such cookware will serve in the kitchen for a long time if used and cleaned properly.

OBOZ.UA has found a life hack that will help remove old dirt without damaging the surface. Avoid aggressive chemicals and the dishwasher to preserve the quality and beautiful appearance of cast iron cookware.

You do not need to wash the skillet thoroughly after each use. If you have been heating food or frying food in it without adding a lot of oil, you can simply wipe it with a damp cloth.

But if the frying pan needs to be cleaned, you should do so immediately after you take it off the stove. Wait a few minutes for the cast iron to cool down and pour hot water to soften any food that has stuck to the surface.

Then, using a wooden spatula or dishwashing brush, lightly scrub the surfaces to get rid of any grease particles. Avoid hard and sharp objects to avoid deforming the metal.

Wash the pan with warm water and a little dishwashing detergent.

If the carbon deposits on the pan are old, you will need salt. Pour warm water and sprinkle salt over the surface. Then, using a soft brush, thoroughly wipe the necessary areas and clean everything with soapy water.

To prevent rusting of cast iron cookware, dry it well after washing. Wipe the frying pan with a dry cloth and place it on the stove with a low heat. Wait a few minutes and remove the pan when it is completely dry.
