How to achieve maximum freshness in the bathroom: simple tricks

Without regular cleaning and proper ventilation, a bathroom can become a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Another nuance is the unpleasant odor. Regular deep disinfection is a primary necessity to keep the room fresh.

However, even after a thorough cleaning, you may still feel unpleasant odors or mustiness. House Digest has revealed how simple and affordable ingredients can help you achieve maximum freshness in your bathroom.

Life hack 1

Essential oils are eco-friendly, safe, and high-quality natural flavors. They are derived from various plants and are often used for aromatherapy. According to some studies, essential oils may have health benefits. There's an interesting way to save money: instead of buying an expensive diffuser, you can simply use a toilet paper roll.

All you have to do is apply two or three drops of your favorite scent to the inside of the toilet paper roll. The cardboard will gradually absorb the fragrance oil. One of the benefits of using essential oil on a toilet paper roll is that every time you move it to take the paper, the scent is released into the air. You can use bright scents like citrus, or fresh clean scents like mint or eucalyptus. Or, if you want the oils to last the longest, choose patchouli, vetiver, or sandalwood, which smell great for days.

The toilet is the source of many unpleasant odors in the bathroom. Although there are many products on the market for easy cleaning, they usually contain chemicals that are not healthy. You can make your own effective and eco-friendly fragrances.

In a container, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1/2 cup of citric acid. Then, mix 1 teaspoon of vinegar and 3 tablespoons of water and add this to the powder to make a lumpy paste. Finally, add about 20 drops of essential oils or extracts of your choice to create a pleasant scent. Pack the mixture tightly into silicone muffin tins or ice cube molds and place them in the freezer. Once they have hardened, you can store them in a tightly sealed bag. Throw the product into the toilet whenever there is an unpleasant odor and do not flush until the "bombs" dissolve.

Life hack 3

Add a few drops of essential oil to cotton pads and place them in a small container. You can buy special containers. You can place the cotton pads anywhere in the bathroom to keep the fresh scents concentrated where they are needed. This method is incredibly simple but long-lasting.

Life hack 4

Bathroom mats accumulate the most bacteria because they are often ignored. However, every time you step on the mat after a shower and drip water, you create a warm, moist environment where bacteria and fungal spores can grow. Baking soda acts as an excellent odor neutralizer.

All you have to do is sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda on the mat and then leave it to sit for at least an hour or overnight. Then shake off the abrasive particles and wash the mat. Another option, if you want to quickly refresh your rug without washing it, is to apply baking soda and then vacuum it after an hour or two.

Orange peels have antifungal and antimicrobial properties. They can be used to maintain freshness and hygiene in the toilet. In addition, they will perfectly hide any unpleasant odors.

You can create a toilet bowl cleaner with orange peel. Simply soak the peel in vinegar and leave it to steep for a few weeks to allow the mixture to intensify. Then strain the infused vinegar into a spray bottle, removing the peel. You will get a non-toxic but effective solution that can be used to remove hard water stains and freshen up the room with a citrus scent.
