In 1996, National Geographic photographer Charles O'Rear took one of the most famous pictures in human history. The image of a green hill in Sonoma County, California, called "Bliss", has become an iconic Windows XP desktop screensaver.

The LADbible publication shared interesting facts about it. According to the photographer, he was in the right place at the right time, which allowed him to take the legendary photo.

O'Rear said that he always carries a camera with him and takes pictures of places that seem beautiful to him. The image "Bliss" was taken during a stop on the way to visit his future wife Daphne Larkin.

The photographer noted that he used a Mamiya RZ67 camera with Fuji Film color film and a tripod. The right angle and quality equipment did the trick.

In 1998, Bill Gates's group bought the Westlight photo agency, to which O'Rear sent his photo. Since then, the photo has become the default desktop image of Windows XP.

The exact amount for which the company bought the photo is unknown, but it is more than 100,000 thousand dollars. O'Rear was paid such a high fee for the image that FedEx, a company that provides postal, courier and other services around the world, refused to deliver it because of the huge amount of insurance.

The photographer had to get on a plane and personally deliver the original image to Microsoft's Seattle office.

The image "Bliss" is still a business card of Charles O'Rear to this day.
