Forget about grease: how to clean the inside of a cooker hood
A cooker hood is an indispensable item in the kitchen. This appliance is essential for maintaining a clean, smoke-free and odor-free environment. However, cleaning the hood is often a problem because it is a tedious job that includes disassembling, washing, and removing old dirt.
The longer you ignore the need to clean the hood, the more effort you will have to spend on cleaning. The exterior finish will not be enough as a persistent greasy coating accumulates on the filters over time. How to clean the hood from the inside is reported by experts at Informacion.
How to clean the inside of the hood
Step 1: Preparation and safety
First of all, it is important to make sure that the range hood is turned off and disconnected from the power source. Cover the hob and surrounding areas with newspaper or a cloth to protect them from possible spills of cleaning products.
Step 2: Disassemble the filters
Remove the filters from the hood. Most models can be easily disassembled without tools. Soak the filters in a solution of hot water and dishwashing detergent for at least 30 minutes. If the filters are metal and very dirty, it is better to use a special oven cleaner.
Step 3: Cleaning the filters
After soaking, scrub the filters with a soft brush or sponge to remove any grease and dirt that has accumulated. Rinse them well with hot water and allow them to dry completely before placing them back in the range hood.
Step 4: Cleaning the interior
To clean the inside of the range hood, prepare a solution of hot water and a strong degreaser. Apply it to the inside of the hood with a sponge or cloth. You can also use an old toothbrush to gently scrub away any burnt-on deposits.
Step 5: Drying
After you have removed all grease and dirt from the inside of the hood, wipe the surface with a damp cloth to remove any remaining liquid.
Step 6: External cleaning
The exterior of the hood also requires attention. Clean the exterior with a solution of vinegar and water or a special stainless steel cleaner. Use a soft cloth to apply the solution and then dry and polish the surface for a streak-free shine.
When everything is clean and dry, reinstall the filters in the range hood. Connect the device and turn it on to make sure it is working properly.
