Tesla shows humanoid robot Optimus in action

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has presented a prototype of the humanoid robot Optimus. The inventor predicts that the production of the robot will be in the millions, and it will be possible to buy it for less than $20,000.

Musk also noted that Tesla will be ready to accept orders for robots in 3-5 years. This was reported by Reuters (to see photos and videos, scroll to the bottom of the page).

Despite the fact that Optimus is still at the prototype stage, Musk is confident that in 10 years, the robot will bring more profit to Tesla than electric cars.

The inventor stressed that, unlike other companies, Tesla intends to design and manufacture robots for the mass market, which will also be tested at workplaces in its factories.

The experimental test robot was developed in February and was presented on 30 September. A video was also shown showing the humanoid performing simple tasks such as watering plants, carrying boxes and lifting metal objects at Tesla's California plant.

In the future, the manufacturers intend to power the robot with a 2.3 kWh battery, which will allow it to "live" throughout the day without recharging. The weight of the humanoid is planned to be kept within 73 kg. At the same time, the robot's design will be subject to reliability during production, in particular by conducting crash tests.

"The heart" of the robot is a proprietary Tesla processor with a high degree of integration and support for Wi-Fi and LTE wireless interfaces. At the presentation, Tesla specialists also spoke about the specifics of developing the robot's joints, limbs and electromechanical drives, as well as control algorithms.

As a reminder, the founder of the American private aerospace company SpaceX, Elon Musk, has trolled the Russian state-owned Roscosmos Corporation. The inventor and billionaire wished the Russians a "good luck" in response to their announcement of plans to leave the International Space Station (ISS).

It is worth noting that at the beginning of the war, inventor Elon Musk expressed support for Ukraine. He wished our country to remain strong.
