Ukrainian judoka Daria Bilodid received a disqualifying hansoku-make score at the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv, Israel. The 22-year-old from Kyiv used a prohibited technique in her semi-final match against Canadian Christy Deguchi, for which she was punished by the judges.

In an interview with Suspilne, Ukraine's national team coach Vitaliy Dubrova said that Bilodid could have injured her opponent.

"The rules are so harsh now that if you make such a mistake, you are completely removed from the competition," Dubrova said.

As a result, Bilodid took 5th place at the stage, defeating Yoshida Tsukasa, the bronze medallist of the 2020 Olympic Games, Veronica Toniolo of Italy, and Israeli judoka Timna Nelson Levy.
