Vorschmack is a popular herring spread with apple and butter. Served on a slice of black bread, it's a very light and effective appetizer. But if you want something new, make a tuna vorschmack. You can spread it on pita bread and get something similar to Mexican tacos.

The idea of making tuna minced meat in pita bread was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Oksana Kretsul (oksana_kretsul). Cream cheese adds tenderness to the mass, and cilantro adds freshness.

Ingredients:

  • round mini pita bread
  • eggs - 3-4 pcs
  • tuna - 1 can (185 grams)
  • cilantro - 1/3 bunch
  • purple onion - 1/3 pc
  • apple (or other) vinegar
  • hard cheese (I have gouda) - 20 grams
  • Parmesan cheese - 20-25 grams
  • cream cheese - 2 tbsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Boil eggs, cool and peel them, grate on a fine grater.

2. Dice the onion and marinate in vinegar, then rinse, dry and add to the eggs. You don't have to marinate the onion if you like more savory dishes.

3. Add the tuna, cream cheese, grated cheeses and chopped cilantro, mix until smooth.

4. Fold the pita bread in the middle and dry for 3-4 minutes in the oven on a wire rack.

5. Stuff the pita bread with vorschmack and serve.
