What is falafel and what is it made of: a very nutritious dish without meat

Falafels are fried chickpea ball. They can also be baked if you want a healthier dish. They are served in pita bread with various vegetables and sauces.

The idea of cooking baked falafel in the oven was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Khrystyna with the nickname kris_estet. Despite the fact that there is no meat in the dish, it turns out to be quite satisfying.

Ingredients:

  • chickpeas - 250 g (cooked weight)
  • garlic - 2 cloves
  • onion - 100 g
  • lemon juice from half a lemon
  • lemon zest from half a lemon
  • parsley - 30 g
  • flour - 4 tbsp
  • salt, vegetable oil

Method of preparation:

1. Soak chickpeas overnight.

2. Cook until soft (1.5-2 hours).

3. In a blender bowl, combine onion, garlic, cooked chickpeas, lemon juice, lemon zest, and salt.

4. Blend everything.

5. Add parsley.

6. Beat well again.

5. Transfer to a bowl.

6. Add flour.

7. Knead and shape into balls.

8. Cover a baking sheet with parchment.

9. Lubricate with oil.

10. Put the falafel.

11. Bake for 25 minutes at 180 degrees.

12. Serve with Greek yogurt. You can also wrap it in pita bread.
