Mimosa salad without sardines: what to add to the dish for an original flavor
Mimosa is one of the simplest and most budget-friendly New Year's salads that can be prepared with sprats, sardines, and cod liver. For a more savory flavor, add grated apple.
Cook Ilona shared a recipe for a delicious Mimosa with cod liver, hard cheese, and apple on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- cod liver - 1-1.5 cans
- apple - 1/2 pc.
- carrot - 1 pc.
- onion - 1 pc.
- eggs - 2 pcs.
- any hard cheese - 70 g
- mayonnaise
- apple cider vinegar
- salt, pepper - to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Boil the carrot and eggs. Finely chop the onion and pour vinegar over it to marinate.
2. Drain all the oil from the cod liver, put it on a plate, and mash it with a fork. Grate the apple and add to the liver.
3. Grate the boiled carrot and the cheese on a fine grater. Peel the eggs. Separate the yolks from the whites and grate them as well.
4. Assemble the salad in layers: the first layer is cod liver, then put the pickled onions, then the carrot. Brush with mayonnaise. Mix the whites with the cheese and put them in the next layer. Brush with mayonnaise. The last layer is grated yolks. Garnish with herbs and eat!
