How to replace expensive food: cheap and safe alternatives
In today's environment, not everyone can afford to buy expensive food products. But this is not a problem at all, because they can simply be replaced with the same ones - no less useful, but on a budget.
Nutritionist Olha Dorosh (olhadorosh_) on her Instagram page named a cheaper and safer alternative to expensive food .
Meat is offal (liver, hearts, ventricles). They can be baked, stewed, and made into pates.
Red fish – mackerel, herring.
Seabass, dorado – hake, tilapia, pollock.
Buckwheat, wild rice, amaranth, quinoa – millet, barley and wheat porridge. This also includes legumes such as chickpeas and beans.
Couscous – whole wheat or wheat porridge, oatmeal/flattened.
Tomatoes, cucumbers – fermented vegetables, carrots, beets, cabbage.
Sweet potatoes – potatoes.
Salad greens, mixes, microgreens – wild garlic, green onions.
Olive and linseed oil – any other oil. ⠀
Chia – flax.
Avocado – in this case, it is best to buy a promotional product and take an unripe avocado. The product will ripen on its own at home in 4-5 days. As for the alternative, any other fat products will do.
Rice flour – whole wheat, plain white wheat.
Goji berries, spirulina, chlorophyll – any berries and greens. ⠀
Broccoli – ordinary or purple cabbage.
