Budget and tasty onion pie: what to add to the batter
Onions are not only an ingredient for salads and stir-fries but also a great base for baking. The vegetable can be used to make a full-fledged, hearty pie. You just need to choose the right base for the batter to make it fluffy.
The idea of making a simple onion pie with kefir was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Zhanna (zhanna.humeniuk). The filling is very juicy.
Ingredients:
- onions - 5 pcs.
- cream - 75 ml.
- kefir - 200 ml.
- eggs - 3 pcs.
- flour - 200 g
- baking powder
Method of preparation:
1, Peel onion and cut it into half rings.
2. Fry in a little olive oil until transparent.
3. Stew it. The main thing is that it should not be golden.
4. At the end, add 75 ml of cream and simmer until tender.
5. For the batter, add 3 chicken eggs, 8 tbsp of flour, a little baking powder to 200 ml of kefir and beat thoroughly with a whisk.
6. The batter should not be too liquid.
7. Pour the batter into the mold.
8. Put the stewed onions in the middle as a filling and then pour the rest of the batter on top.
9. Bake in a preheated oven to 180 degrees for about 50 minutes.
