Herring is a very affordable, yet delicious fish, and it is also one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids and iodine. With a daily requirement of 1 to 1.5 grams of omega-3 per day, 100 grams of herring contains 2.4 grams.

How to choose the right herring

Nutritionist Svitlana Fus spoke on Instagram about the benefits of budget herring and why everyone should eat it.

How to quickly clean herring

In addition to omega-3, herring also contains iodine, which is important for the thyroid gland, and selenium. Herring contains about 37 mcg of iodine, with a minimum daily requirement of 50 mcg.

"100 g of this fish will provide almost half of the daily dose of this element necessary for the thyroid gland," says Fus.

The expert added that it also contains much-needed vitamin E and selenium, antioxidants contained in herring, which are important for the immune system and help minimize the damage caused by free radicals.
