What popular spices will ruin any soup: never add them
Soups can be made from any vegetables, cereals, meat, fish, and spices. But you need to remember that not all spices are suitable for soups, some of them can simply ruin the dish.
The FoodOboz editorial team shares useful tips from chefs on what spices to avoid when cooking soups.
Spicy seasonings
Cooks say that you shouldn't season fresh soup even with ground black pepper, and you should be even more careful with spicy seasonings, such as chili peppers, horseradish, wasabi, ginger, and curry, which will make the soup very spicy. It is better to add onions, garlic, and celery.
Dried dill and parsley
If you add dried herbs to a vegetable soup or cereal, you will get a hay flavor. Therefore, for a pleasant flavor during cooking, it is better to use fresh herbs or parsley root.
Lavender, ground ginger
Lavender can be added to desserts, tea, and ice cream; dried ground ginger is suitable for cooking meat, namely chicken and thighs.
Mint
It will make the first course bitter, so it is best added to tea!
