Sequence of adding vegetables to borscht and how it affects the dish: we share our tips
Borsch is a dish that every Ukrainian knows how to cook. Every housewife has her recipe and secrets of cooking this dish, but the basic set of products remains irreplaceable: potatoes, beets, cabbage!
The cook shared on Instagram a recipe and tips on how to add vegetables to borscht to make it tasty and flavorful.
Tip: add potatoes first, then cabbage and a vegetable dressing made from onions, carrots, beets, and tomato paste!
Ingredients:
- Meat – 500 g
- Water – 3 liters
- Onion – 1 pc.
- Carrots – 1 pc.
- Beetroot – 1 pc.
- Tomatoes
- Potatoes – 4 pcs.
- Cabbage – a handful
- Sugar – 1 tbsp.
- Vinegar – 2 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Wash the meat, cut it, and cook until soft. Strain the broth and put the meat back.
2. Add the potatoes.
3. Chop the onion, carrots and beets into strips. Fry the onion, add the carrots and beets, tomato paste, spices, sugar and vinegar, and mix.
4. Next, add finely chopped cabbage and vegetable frying to the borscht and let the borscht boil.
Add herbs and sour cream before serving!
