Homemade pies can be made with both sweet and savory fillings. And the dough can be used either ready-made, puff pastry, or liquid with kefir or yogurt.

Chef Alex shared a recipe for a delicious, hearty sardine pie on Instagram.

Pie recipe


  • sardines - 250 g (without oil)
  • onion - 130 g
  • boiled eggs - 2 pcs.
  • hard cheese - 80 g
  • salt, pepper, 15 g of oil for frying

For the dough:

  • kefir or white yogurt - 250 g
  • flour - 180 g
  • eggs - 1 pc.
  • baking powder - 7 g
  • vegetable oil - 10 g
  • sesame seeds

Method of preparation:

1. Fry the finely chopped onion, put it in a bowl, add grated eggs, hard cheese, sardine without oil, spices and mix.

2. Dough: add the egg, salt, baking powder, oil to the kefir and mix with a whisk. Add flour and mix until smooth, the consistency of the dough should be thicker than sour cream. If it is too thin, add more flour.

3. Pour half the batter into a parchment-lined baking dish. Next, put all the filling in the baking dish and press it down. Then sprinkle with grated cheese and pour the dough on top, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake for 35-45 minutes at 180 C.
