An earthquake struck because of Swift's fans

Two concerts of the American pop star Taylor Swift in Seattle, USA, caused an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.3. Fans were so excited about their favourite singer's performance that scientists recorded seismic activity.

The data was recorded during the Swift Eras tour at the Lumen Field stadium on 22 and 23 July. According to the BBC, both concerts were sold out (scroll down to the bottom of the page to see photos).

Jackie Kaplan-Auerbach, a professor of geology at Western Washington University, compared the measurements from the two nights and confirmed that they were almost identical.

About 144,000 people came to the artist's two performances, meaning that more than 70,000 people danced to the celebrity's songs every night.

Since Swift's repertoire includes many dance tracks that have become hits, her fans couldn't hold back and jumped up and down on their feet. This is the first major tour of the star in the last 5 years, so it is not surprising that so many people were waiting for her concerts.

The previous record was set in Seattle in 2011 during a football match.

Taylor Swift thanked her fans for the incredible response and said that these days were her favourite in her life.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL wrote that one of the most anticipated music events of the year - the American Music Awards 2022 - took place in Los Angeles, USA. Singer Taylor Swift won 6 awards.
