The main actors of the Marvel superhero franchise The Avengers have supported US Vice President Kamala Harris in her campaign for the White House. Scarlett Johansson, who plays the role of Black Widow, gathered her colleagues via video call to "defeat Donald Trump," Harris' main rival.

In a video posted by Mark Ruffalo on his X-Men page, who plays the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the stars expressed their support for the politician and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. "Thank you for answering my call," Johansson said during the video call. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Don Cheadle, Danai Gurira, and Paul Bettany also joined the call.

The video ends with a link to iwillvote.com, where you can check your voter registration status, find your polling place, and learn more about the voting process until November 5. Johansson acknowledges that people are still reflecting on a "tumultuous few years," but says it is vital to focus on the future. "I just hope that people will exercise their right to vote and participate in the elections, especially young people, because obviously it's their future," the actress told Vanity Fair.

The celebrity admits that she is concerned that another Trump presidency could cause irreparable damage to her children, including her 3-year-old son. "My daughter is 10 years old, and I think about how much damage has been done – not only politically and socially, but also environmentally – under Trump," the star says. It's very urgent to support the opposite."

On Instagram, her colleague Mark Ruffalo wrote: "Don't sit idly by. This is a case where we are losing big: Project 2025, women's reproductive rights, climate change, LGBT+ rights, public education, student debt relief, the Affordable Care Act, Social Security, and as of today, life-saving vaccines. This shit is real, and it's coming for you."
