Actor Ostap Stupka has disclosed the reason why his son and colleague Dmytro Stupka, who left for the United States before the full-scale Russian invasion, has been living abroad for more than 2.5 years and has not returned to Ukraine. The celebrity testified that he plans to come home.

According to Ostap Stupka, his son cannot leave the United States because of problems with his documents. He said this in an interview with the "Morning in the Big City" program.

"There are plans, but there are just certain nuances with his documents, and he has no right to leave the territory of the United States, so he is there now," Ostap Stupka said.

However, when the journalist asked him what kind of documents Dmytro Stupka was dealing with, he hastily noted that it was not interesting to hear about it.

"These are details, they will not be interesting. These are details in the documents, it's a matter of course," he said.

In the fall of 2021, Stupka moved to the United States with his then-wife, Belarusian blogger Polina Logunova, and daughter Bohdana. The woman admitted that she and her husband were considering moving to America for permanent residence.

In an interview with OBOZ.UA, Dmytro Stupka said that he was supposed to return to Ukraine at the end of February 2022: "I bought a ticket home for February 23, 2022. When I was flying to Istanbul, where I had a connection to Kyiv, I read on social media that the war had broken out. I couldn't get home because the skies were closed. I lived in Europe for several months, volunteering. And then I returned to America to be closer to my daughter."

At the time, he noted that it was because of his child that he was forced to stay in the United States during the war, as neither his ex-wife nor his daughter were likely to return to Ukraine.

"I understand that my daughter will live here, because my mother already has her own business, her own life," Stupka said, "and I have no right to take my child away from her mother. Therefore, God willing, the war will end, and I will live in two countries."
