"She was a sadist and a total bitch": Jerry Heil and alyona alyona respond to the Mother Teresa scandal in their Eurovision song

Singer Jerry Heil and rapper alyona alyona responded to criticism of their song "Teresa & Maria" written for the National Selection for Eurovision 2024. Ukrainians' opinions about the song were divided, as one of the leading personalities mentioned in the track was Mother Teresa.

The nun is known for both her good deeds and her controversial reputation. However, the participants of the National Selection explained in an interview with Radio Promin why it is not worth focusing on this.

The performers assured that Mother Teresa, like the Virgin Mary, is only a symbol referred to in the chorus. Jerry Heil urged not to dwell on the ambiguity of the personality, because "people who write this do not consider the situation from both sides: they do not know who disseminated this information about her, for what money, for what purpose."

Alyona alyona emphasized that, according to their subscribers, the information on foreign resources is completely different. The duo continued: India's policy against Mother Teresa was driven by political and religious issues. "Her contribution cannot be leveled. When did a person even introduce the concept of hospice and kindness," the rapper added.

She also mentioned that the nun led an ascetic lifestyle, comparing her to modern volunteers: "We are all Mary, Teresa, who did without money, without anything. Just because we wanted to win, just like she wanted people to live, not die, that's all. Like, the image is controversial, but the song is not about her."

After the release of the song by Jerry Heil and alyona alyona, a new scandal shook the network. Ukrainians criticized the artists for mentioning Mother Teresa, writing in the comments that the nun was a bitch and hypocrite who hid behind piety, but in fact killed thousands of people in unsanitary conditions, and opposed contraception and abortion.
