During his second term in office, Reagan began to show the first symptoms of Alzheimer's disease: during a live presidential debate (1984), he suddenly stopped talking, forgetting what he wanted to say.

In 1994, Ronald officially announced his diagnosis. Then his memory gradually deteriorated, as well as his ability to think and speak. Eventually, he stopped recognising people around him, including his wife Nancy. The former US president died when he was 93.
