"The winner should have been different": Ukrainians online chose their favorite among the finalists of The Voice 13

The final of The Voice 13 took place

The winner of the 13th season of The Voice, which was determined live by viewer vote on October 29, was Mykhailo Panchishin, a 25-year-old veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, from the team of Artem Pivovarov. However, not all viewers agreed with this result. A discussion erupted online, with some participants believing that Khrystyna Starykova from Yulia Sanina's team deserved to win more.

The girl overcame two stages in the finals, but failed to get to the decisive match and compete for the main victory. Many commentators are outraged about this, and they openly write about it on the Instagram page of The Voice. OBOZ.UA decided to tell you what we know about the favorite of the network users and her path on the project (to see photos and videos, scroll to the bottom of the page).

Khrystyna is one of the youngest participants of this season. She is only 17 years old. She is a native of the small town of Myrnohrad, Donetsk region. Due to the constant danger, the young vocalist moved to Kyiv.

"I have always followed this path. I performed at all local festivals. Now I live in Kyiv because of the close front line near my town and active hostilities. I try to live my life, but it is very difficult. I miss my home every minute. I am very proud to represent Donetsk region on such a big stage. I dream of singing the national anthem of Ukraine on the stage of Myrnohrad," said the contestant at the stage of blind auditions.

Since the first episode, Khrystyna has become a favorite for many of the show's fans. And this is not surprising - her powerful voice turned all four coaches around. When she joined Yulia Sanina's team, they immediately formed a bond. Viewers still believe that the coach and her mentee are very similar, both in appearance and temperament.

Starykova confidently overcame all the stages of this season. Her performance at the cross-battle was particularly striking when she sang the Ukrainian folk song "Oh, You Lark". The girl chose this song for a reason. The fact is that her grandparents sang this song in their native Donetsk region and were once very famous performers in the region. So Khrystyna wanted to remind the audience that Donbas has always been and remains Ukrainian.

That performance was recognized as one of the strongest of the entire season, and thousands of viewers were convinced that this is how the voice of the country sounds.

In the final, Khrystyna first sang the winning Eurovision Song Contest 2019 hit Arcade by the Dutch singer Duncan Laurence, and in the second stage she went on stage with her coach - in a duet they performed the single "Melody" by The Hardkiss.

The girl failed to make it to the next stage of the final battle. After the results of the last vote were announced and Mykhailo Panchyshyn was declared the winner, many commentators expressed their disagreement. They said that Starykova deserved to win, because her voice, according to some commentators, was objectively stronger.
