The nun began her religious journey as a teenager, and celebrating her 110th birthday, she received an apostolic blessing from Pope Francis. Despite her age, the woman is in fairly good health, although her relatives used to fear that she would not even live to be 18.

Inah Canabarro Lucas was born on June 8, 1908, in the Brazilian city of São Francisco de Assis, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. As a child, she was so thin that many of her relatives believed that she would not even live to see adulthood. However, ironically, everything turned out to be quite the opposite.
The record holder began her religious journey at the age of 16. At first, she studied at the Santa Teresa de Jesus boarding school. Eventually, the Brazilian moved to Uruguay, where she took a vow to become a nun on July 27, 1934. After an important event in her life, Inah Canabarro Lucas returned to her homeland. She became a teacher of Portuguese and math.
