The Crown Prince of Jordan gave birth to his first child: he showed the first video with the baby

The future king of Jordan has a daughter

Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah of Jordan and his wife, Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, gave birth to their first child on Saturday, August 3, in the morning. The couple will now raise a girl.

She was named Iman. Hussein's daughter will not claim the throne, as the country's laws provide for the transfer of the crown to male heirs only. A video of the newborn appeared on the royal family's Instagram.

In the footage, the new father holds his daughter in his arms and reads a prayer in her ear. The princess was blessed with God's care and peace.

The King and Queen of Jordan – aka grandparents – welcomed their son and daughter-in-law in public. King Abdullah said that the birth of his granddaughter "enlightened the family." Interestingly, he also named his first daughter Iman, so now the newborn girl will have the same name as her aunt.

The Jordanian constitution stipulates that the throne passes to male heirs, so Iman will receive the title of princess, but will not lead the country in due course. This can be done by the prince's son or his younger brother Hashem.

As a reminder, Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa got married on June 1 last year. Guests from all over the world were invited to the celebration, including the Prince and Princess of Wales – William and Kate – and US First Lady Jill Biden with her granddaughter.
