"We have a two-week rule, which often seems too long, but we don't go more than two weeks without seeing each other and our family together," said the wife of the 58-year-old Oscar-winning actor.

As you can understand from Susan's words, if her husband fails to fly home from filming after the two-week period has expired, she and the children fly to him.

"Fortunately, we prefer to be a traveling circus whenever possible. You follow the basic rule of two weeks, and then you don't try to get ahead of yourself, because a lot of what we do is surprisingly unpredictable. You never know what might happen. Someone might get sick or something else. So you need to have the basic things in place and then be prepared for everything else," Susan said.

Robert Downey Jr. himself says that his family makes him really happy and gives him a lot of positive things.

He had been using drugs, including marijuana, since he was 8 years old.
