World-renowned Puerto Rican pop musician Ricky Martin is divorcing his husband, Swedish-Syrian artist Jovan Yosef, after six years of marriage. They met in 2015 on social media, first announced to the public in 2016 that they were a couple, and two more years later admitted that they had legalized their relationship.

Martin and Yosef exclusively told People about their divorce. They admitted that they tried to save the marriage, but they were unsuccessful.

"We have been thinking for some time about changing our relationship, and after careful deliberation, we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children - preserving and respecting what we have experienced as a couple, all these wonderful years," the couple said in a general statement.

The Exes assured that they plan to remain in a warm, friendly relationship in order to raise their common children together, daughter Lucia and son Renn, who were born in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

"Our greatest desire right now is to continue to have a healthy family dynamic and a relationship based on peace and friendship to continue raising our children together while maintaining the respect and love we have for each other," the performer and artist added.

Note that Ricky Martin, 51, in addition to Lucia and Renn, has two other children - twins Matteo and Valentino, who were born in 2008 to a surrogate mother. The magazine noted that the singer will continue to raise the boys as a single father.
