Putinist Roger Waters embarrassed himself by thanking Russians for "defeating the Nazis" but kept silent about his criminal case in Germany

Putinist Roger Waters embarrassed himself by thanking Russians for "defeating the Nazis"

Roger Waters, the British frontman of Pink Floyd and a lover of the "Russian world," who supported Russia in the war against Ukraine, accusing the United States and Joe Biden directly, scandalized the Russians by thanking them for their (bloody!) victory over the Nazis in World War II. In his address, he praised the aggressor country almost to the skies, but at the same time forgot how he had performed in Germany in a Nazi-style costume.

In the usual scenario, Russians, hearing that a foreigner had paid attention to them, began to admire and praise Waters. Under the corresponding news in the Russian media, they called him "one of the few sober people in the West," "their elephant" and "an American of a healthy person," even though he has British citizenship and does not live in the United States.

In general, Waters' speech was full of praise for the Russians. It is worth noting that the people who had a hand in the Soviet Union's victory in World War II are unlikely to see this address either because of their age or because they are no longer alive. Therefore, the Briton only contributed to strengthening the cult of war in the Russian Federation and amused those for whom the meaning of life is "grandfathers fought."

By the way, he was addressing Russians, although most of the people who took part in the bloody events were of other ethnicities: Ukrainians, Belarusians, Georgians, Moldovans, Crimean Tatars, Azerbaijanis, etc.

"I am particularly interested in the fact that I am speaking to the good people of Russia, whom we have not yet truly thanked for their victory over the Germans in World War II, a victory that cost them 22 million lives. Thank you! We thank you, people of Russia, for this enormous sacrifice you made. And no, we did not win the war on D-Day [the landings in Normandy]. You won the war on the Eastern Front. You did! It was you, the Russians. Thank you," the former Pink Floyd member said.

Due to his aforementioned performance in a Nazi symbols costume in Berlin, Germany, last year, the authorities opened a criminal case. The musician was accused of inciting hatred and investigated on suspicion of inciting people.

It is known that Nazi symbols and similar uniforms are banned in Germany, so it is not surprising why Waters was prosecuted. According to the police, the image of the Briton "may endorse, glorify or justify the violent and arbitrary rule of the Nazi regime in a way that offends the dignity of the victims and thus violates public order."

As a reminder, Roger Waters previously emphasized that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ukrainians "have crossed many red lines that have been clearly marked by the Russian Federation for several years." He also surprised the world by saying that if Ukraine does not end the war on Putin's terms, we will have to fight to the last human life.

In particular, the singer has been on the Myrotvorets database for his pro-Russian views since 2018.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote about other world stars, besides Roger Waters, who have sold out to Russia. They gladly supported Russia in the war against Ukraine, and some of them even went to meetings with Putin.
