"March 8 is not a women's holiday". Yefrosynina, Salivanchuk, Tarabarova and other stars launched a new trend
Since the Soviet era, Ukrainians have inherited the celebration of March 8 as International Women's Day, which implied congratulations to the "fragile sex" with tenderness, the title of the team's jewel, and the onset of spring. This year, however, Ukrainian stars are trying to prove the real reason for the importance of this date, despite the still existing stereotypical statements and wishes, and this is turning into a mainstream trend.
On their Instagram pages, they reminded us of the women's struggle for equal rights, which began with the American Elizabeth Blackwell in 1847 and continues to this day. OBOZ.UA has compiled a selection of congratulatory posts by Ukrainian stars who put the meaning of self-love and the desire for self-realization into this day.
Anna Salivanchuk
The actress reminded us how important it is to enjoy and take care of ourselves every day.
"March 8 is not a women's holiday. Every day is a women's holiday! Remember, you don't owe anyone anything in this life. You just have to be happy. That's all! Women, girls, mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, grandmothers, I ask you to be happy! That's the only way you will wake up every day with a smile," she wrote in a greeting to her father, whose birthday the family celebrates on March 8.
Svitlana Tarabarova
The singer does not expect flowers on this day, but only dreams of social equality with men.
"Equal rights and respect. It seems like so little, but it is still the dream of many women in different parts of the world... Don't forget about the main thing. What about flowers? We can buy flowers for ourselves any day," Tarabarova said.
Masha Yefrosynina
"Personally, I'm not expecting a drawing from my son or a bouquet from my husband today. For me, this day has not been about celebrating at all for many years. It is an occasion to remember once again what a difficult and thorny path women around the world have overcome so that we can have access to basic human rights. They were able to study, vote, work in once "exclusively male" positions, and claim decent pay...
Equality and respect are not about unshaven armpits but about the ability to choose who you want to be. To choose and be it. If you choose to wear heels, or walk, if you choose to run a factory, run it, if you choose to be a mother, be a mother, if you choose not to give birth, don't give birth, if you choose to defend your country in war, defend it. You are the key to everything," the TV presenter summarized.
Kateryna Kukhar
The ballerina reminded us how important daily self-care is.
"Girls. Let every day of this year be ours! We are all inimitable, unique, and multifaceted! So don't forget to love, appreciate, and praise yourself!" she wrote.
Yulia Sanina
"Woman. To live my life as I want. To have equal rights and opportunities. I am grateful to women and sisterhood for the difficult path they have traveled, which our generation will continue," the singer emphasized the need for feminism.
Monroe
The travesty diva reminded us how important it is to be yourself and think for your comfort.
"My girl, you are the boss of your life, your body, and you have the right to choose! How to look, who to be, with whom to build relationships, or maybe not. Whom to love and whom to hate. How and where to realize yourself, or maybe just go with the flow, without stress. But still, it's better to choose development and benefit. New neural connections won't hurt. And most importantly, you don't have to explain anything to anyone, let alone justify yourself. Unless, of course, you are an official or the legal wife of an official. Be yourself, support other women, finally learn the meaning of the term "misogyny" and finally buy that longed-for bouquet. I hug you and congratulate you on our holiday," she wished.
Yevhen Klopotenko
It is unexpected to find a man among strong and independent women. However, his wish, which shatters the stereotype, cannot be ignored.
"I'm against the phrase that a woman's place is in the kitchen, it offends me. Because the kitchen is my place. And a woman's place is wherever she wants to be," the chef admitted succinctly.
