Johnny Depp, Keanu Reeves and 5 other actors who perform in musical groups or solo. Video
You've probably heard of the legendary 30 seconds to Mars band, fronted by American actor Jared Leto. He is equally good at "lighting up" both the set (he can pull off any role) and the stage (he shocks the audience with his images and vocal range). As Jared's experience has shown, in the face of fierce competition, actors have to not only act convincingly but also develop other talents.
We found out which other movie stars can boast of musical talent. Read more in the OBOZ.UA article.
1. Johnny Depp
American actor and film producer Johnny Depp received a valuable gift from his mother as a child - a guitar. This instrument inspired the young man to "feel" and create music. At 16, he left home because he already had big ambitions: he wanted to become a popular musician. However, he never went beyond little-known bands.
After a series of failures, Johnny switched to acting. And he was right! He became a movie star. Later, he recorded duets with his musician friends (Marilyn Manson, Patti Smith, and the Black Keys). And in February 2015, the actor formed his own band, The Hollywood Vampires, with rock musician Alice Cooper and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. Now the trio, in Depp's free time, is successfully touring the world.
2. Ryan Gosling
Canadian film actor Ryan Gosling met film producer Zach Shields in the early noughties. Since they both liked to play indie rock with a gothic flair, they decided to team up in 2007 to play on stage. The friends called their project Dead Man's Bones and released 12 songs. For some time, the musicians were eager to develop the band, but this enthusiasm began to fade as soon as Ryan received more offers to film.
3. Bruce Willis
American film actor Bruce Will is played in the blues band Loose Goose right after graduating from high school. Later, when he became an action movie star, he created the project Bruce Willis and the Accelerators, where he sang and played the harmonica. The band's repertoire mostly included covers of 60s rock hits and famous rhythm and blues songs. Bruce is now 68 years old. Unfortunately, he had to end his career as both an actor and a musician due to dementia.
4. Keanu Reeves
Canadian actor, director and producer Keanu Reeves, as it turned out, is also a talented bassist and backing vocalist. In the 1990s, he played in the rock band Dogstar. In 10 years, the musicians released 2 albums and managed to travel the world with the legendary Bon Jovi, Becky and David Bowie.
5. Hugh Laurie
The English actor and comedian Hugh Laurie, whose most prominent work was his role in the TV series "Dr. House," can sing, as well as play the piano, guitar, saxophone, drums and harmonica. A man-orchestra! Since 2007, he has been performing with the band Band From TV. Why the name? Because the band members are actors from popular TV shows (for example, Bonnie Sommerville from Friends and Greg Granberg from Heroes). And they came together to perform covers of famous songs and donate all their earnings to charity.
6. Jackie Chan
Hong Kong, Chinese and American actor Jackie Chan is one of the most popular action heroes in the world, known for his acrobatic fighting style. It's hard to find a person who hasn't heard of him. A lesser-known fact about Jackie is that he sings professionally in English, Japanese, and Chinese. The celebrity has released 20 albums. In addition, his voice is often heard in the musical themes of the movies he stars in.
7. David Duchovny
The American actor David D uchovny manages to write books and release music albums in parallel with filming movies and TV shows. The star plays folk-rock with elements of alternative and country music, and for inspiration he listens to American singer Bob Dylan, Canadian musician Leonard Cohen and American psychedelic rock band The Flaming Lips.
