"I left on 26 February": Vynnyk confesses why and how he left Ukraine after the invasion. Video

The famous Ukrainian singer Oleh Vynnyk said for the first time that he left Ukraine after the full-scale invasion on 26 February. He decided to keep the exact way he left the country a secret. However, he said that he did not leave alone, but helped evacuate a family of refugees.

Exclusive comments from the star were made in his first interview during the full-scale war. It was published on the Krupnyi Plan YouTube channel (scroll to the bottom of the page to see photos and videos).

As you know, Vynnyk has been living in Germany for the past 16 months. He chose this country for a reason. He has had the right to reside there for 23 years.

"I am a citizen of Ukraine, a chronic Ukrainian, a resident of Germany, and I have been living here for 23 years. I have only a foreign passport, because my internal passport was taken away from me in the early 2000s, when I was registered with the Ukrainian embassy. I can't, don't want to, and won't say that I left before the war. I am a person who is responsible for my words and actions. I left on the 26th of September. And I took a lot of people with me," the singer said.

According to Vynnyk, he had been dreaming for many years about the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine. And now his dream has come true.

"I've had this dream for the last 10-15 years 40 times. Only I saw this moment, where I was leaving under fire, under explosions. And I had to go to the place where I have always made, am making and will make my songs," the singer commented.

We would like to remind you that there were many rumours about the artist's illness. Fans of the star assumed that he had faced cancer. Colleagues and close associates confirmed that the performer was seriously ill, but did not name the diagnosis.
