How to properly remove dust so that it does not collect again: simple rules

Experienced housewives advised on how to effectively deal with dust

No one likes to dust. No matter how much you fight it, something will still remain, some will rise into the air and soon settle again, and you can get a lot of inspiration from it.

However, according to The Sun, experienced housewives know how to make this process more efficient. And also to prevent the particles from quickly accumulating on the cleaned surface again.

Here are the main life hacks:

  • dust high surfaces first, gradually moving downwards;
  • do not wipe the surface in a circular motion, as this will simply redistribute the dirt - instead, make S-shaped movements with the cloth, sweeping everything to the edge;
  • use microfibre cloths and special brushes to sweep away dust - they are more effective than ordinary cloths;
  • moisten cleaning cloths so that they do not raise dust into the air, but erase it, unlike dry ones;
  • vacuum regularly;
  • keep things in order - they will be easier to wipe.

These tips will help you with your daily cleaning. And here's a list of life hacks for more thorough care:

  • a sticky clothes roller will help clean lampshades and other textile items that are difficult to care for;
  • high shelves that are above eye level can be covered with paper, so dust can be simply shaken off from time to time;
  • taking off street shoes in the apartment is another way to avoid dust accumulation;
  • furniture can be treated with a mixture of sunflower oil (1/2 teaspoon), dishwashing liquid (2 drops), vinegar (teaspoon), water (1/4 cup) and lemon essential oil (10 drops). This product has dust-repellent properties and smells fresh.

How do I get rid of dust mites?

The greatest danger posed by dust is dust mites - microscopic parasites that live in dusty things (carpets, pillows, mattresses), feed on dead skin particles and can cause various diseases, including asthma. They can be removed from home textiles by regular washing. For example, it is recommended to change the bedding at least once every two weeks.

In addition, these microorganisms love warmth and high humidity, so cool and moderately dry air in the house will help fight them. Also, if you are sensitive to dust mites, you should reduce the number of carpets in your home.

Natural vegetable oil can help kill dust mites. You can mix a few drops of oil with baking soda and sprinkle it on the surface of fabrics infested with dust mites. This remedy should be left for an hour or more, and then thoroughly vacuum the treated item.
