How to clean old grease on glassware: top proven methods
Glass tableware is deservedly popular - it looks stylish and fits into any interior. But it does have one drawback: dirt is clearly visible on the glass, no matter where it comes from - even from the inside. This is a shame, because heat-resistant cookware made of this material is very good for baking - the dishes are tender and juicy without additional means, but it takes a long time to clean the baking tray afterwards. Therefore, you need to know how to clean glassware from old grease.
Baking tins, mixing bowls, etc. suffer from this problem the most. OBOZREVATEL tells you how to restore their purity and shine.
Hot soaking
A hot solution of detergent can help to remove grease. But it will take some time for it to work and destroy even stubborn stains. Therefore, it is better to soak the dishes. Leave the dish to be cleaned in hot water with a few drops of liquid for 30-45 minutes. Then try to remove the stuck-on grease. If it comes off, it will be enough to clean the glass and rinse it thoroughly. If not, repeat the procedure, but add baking soda instead of dishwashing liquid.
Soaking with citric acid
A citric acid solution is a good fat breaker. Dissolve 100 grams of dry detergent in very hot water, almost boiling water, and immerse the dish in this liquid. Leave it to soak for several hours. For example, overnight. Then wash as usual. This method is only suitable for heat-resistant glassware.
Vinegar lotions
The principle of these lotions is the same - the acid is supposed to break down fat, but the concentration of the product is higher, so it can be used spot-on to remove stains. Dilute vinegar and starch in a 1:1 ratio until a slurry forms. Apply this gruel to the stain and leave it to act for 20-30 minutes. After that, the stain should come off easily and the vessel can be washed as usual.
Baking soda abrasive
Combining the degreasing action of dishwashing liquid with the mild abrasiveness of baking soda can create a very effective product. Mix them until a paste is formed, rub the dish with it and leave it on for 30 minutes. After that, rub the stains with the hard side of the sponge and rinse off the remaining soda with water.
Melamine sponge
This tool does not require any additional chemicals to clean old grease. Simply wet a melamine sponge and rub the stain thoroughly. After about a minute of friction, even the most stubborn stains should come off.
