John Tinniswood is the oldest man in the world

At the age of 111, British John Tinniswood entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest man in the world who survived two world wars and even met Queen Elizabeth. Despite the venerable number of years he has lived, the man still actively communicates, has hobbies, and claims to feel 80.

John Tinniswood was born in 1912, when the Titanic tragedy occurred, and has met the Queen twice in his life. He is currently living in a retirement home in Southport, UK. He told Hello! that the secret of his longevity is his love of fish and fried potatoes.

"Fish and chips is my favorite dish. It has always been such a pleasure. I have kept my youth. I feel the same now as I did when I was 80. In fact, nothing has changed," Tinniswood admitted.

During World War II, the man worked for the Royal Mail. At that time, he met his chosen one, Blodwen, at a dance in Liverpool. The couple lived together for 44 years until his wife died in 1986. She left behind her daughter Susan, who would have been 81 years old today.

The man claims to still have a sharp mind and a good memory. He attributes this to his constant learning and love for the game of football and the Liverpool team.

"Staying active is very important, I've always loved football, but when I was younger I was part of the Liverpool Ramblers Association, which went hiking all over the country. We used to get together at least once a month, and when all the associations from all over the UK got together once a year, we could fill a whole train. The Ramblers' associations don't really exist anymore and I haven't hiked in years, but I'm pretty much carrying on here as I would if I still lived free," Tinniswood said.
