From a waiter at Puzata Khata and a security guard at Poplavskyi's to a lookalike of Oleh Vynnyk: Andriy Kravchenko reveals his path to stardom
Ukrainian singer Andriy Kravchenko, who has recently become famous on the Ukrainian stage, admitted that before the wave of popularity, he actively developed as an artist and worked hard. His path was not easy, but the performer felt happy at every stage.
Earning his first money was difficult for him, but at the same time very enjoyable, so he got his first job after 8th grade. He spoke about this in an interview with Alina Dorotiuk.
"In fact, my first job in life was at a feed mill in the village. I lied and said I was in the ninth grade, not the eighth, because I really wanted to work... I wanted to earn some money. We were carrying 50 kg bags of saltpeter, which was eating away at our fingers," Andrii Kravchenko recalled.
Later, in the same native village, the schoolboy sold vegetables from his garden at the local market. The singer worked like that until he entered university in Kyiv.
The star chose the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, where fate brought him together with the rector Mykhailo Poplavsky.
However, before becoming a security guard at the university, the actor had an interview at the "Puzatyi Khata" (Pot-bellied House), where he wiped tables and issued orders. He didn't like this job, so in his third year, the singer changed his occupation.
"I saw that there were handsome guys standing there, dressed in suits with ties, white shirts, short haircuts. And they are meeting those students who are walking in shorts. I wanted to work there because it was close to me. I loved it when you look at a person and they have everything neat and tidy, no extra shoelace," the singer explained.
At the same time, he worked in restaurants where the student was invited to sing, handed in waste paper for recycling, and took advantage of other opportunities to earn extra money. The singer admitted that he never spent a lot of money for nothing and always saved it.
When the full-scale invasion of Russia began, the demand for Ukrainian music grew, and the singer Oleh Vynnyk fled Ukraine, the audience found Andriy Kravchenko on its own. He was compared to the "leader of the wolves," but the singer himself denies any similarity.
