Ended up in intensive care and got drunk to oblivion: which stars overcame alcohol addiction
Quite often, a large amount of stress, and problems at work, school, or personal life are the reasons why people take up drinking. Ukrainian showbiz stars are no exception, as they tried to "drown" their own problems in alcohol and became addicted to it.
Because of their bad habit, celebrities faced serious health problems, and some even ended up in intensive care. However, fortunately, the artists were able to make a choice in favor of their long life in time, so they overcame their addiction. OBOZ.UA will tell you which of the Ukrainian stars managed to give up alcohol.
POSITIFF
Singer Oleksii Zavgorodnii, better known by his stage name POSITIFF, openly admitted that he was addicted to alcohol for a certain period of his life. According to the performer, this bad habit was an absolute manifestation of moral weakness. With the help of alcohol, the celebrity wanted to "close himself off from himself and the world" to be able to "talk to himself." However, over time, he realized that this way he was not solving problems, but only getting deeper into them.
"I can be called a former alcoholic. I don't know if it's a syndrome or a diagnosis, but I did genetic tests and was told that I don't have genetic alcoholism. Sometimes I want to break down, but I'm working on myself. I try to talk to myself and do it in a sober state," the artist added.
Melovin
The beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine became a kind of "abyss" for Konstiantyn Bocharov (Melovin). After February 24, 2022, the singer took to drinking heavily, which later led to serious health problems. According to the 27-year-old singer, for a long time, he was convinced that alcohol helps to "turn off consciousness" and distract from the problems around him. However, he later realized that alcohol simply creates an "alternative reality."
He admitted that he began to realize the seriousness of the consequences of his addiction when he began to experience health problems: "Tests showed that I had steatohepatosis of the liver (a disease that is accompanied by fatty liver cells – Ed.). I went for an ultrasound and a woman said to me: "I'm sorry, but I've only seen livers like this in farmers who poison fields, and they are over 50 years old." Then she asked me if I had been poisoned. I said, "You just don't understand the amount of alcohol I drink. I could drink two bottles of gin in an evening. I would drink myself into oblivion."
Melovin shared that it was alcohol that caused his other disease, diabetes. Over time, he realized that he had to change his life dramatically, so he completely changed his team so that there were no people who drank alcohol and started seeing a therapist. Now the performer has been sober for a year and a half.
Nastia Kamenskykh
At a certain period of her life, singer Nastia Kamenskykh tried to "drown" her problems in alcohol. During an interview, the artist admitted that 2023 was a very difficult year for her, and she started taking antidepressants and drinking a lot of alcohol to forget.
"Everyone knows me, I didn't drink much. I drank when it was appropriate. This year, I needed to forget. Alcohol makes it possible to forget. But then I analyzed it all," the celebrity said.
According to Kamenskykh, over time, she began to give up her addiction because she wants to be "right here and now" and not miss important moments in life.
Viktor Pavlik
But for Viktor Pavlik, such an addiction could have had a rather tragic end. The artist's wife, Kateryna Repyakhova, once wrote on her social media: "Viktor had big problems with alcohol, which reached the intensive care unit. And the last time he was told that the next time might be the last. And no one was globally interested in this. He was alone with this problem."
Gaitana
Ukrainian singer of Congolese origin Gaitana had to overcome destructive habits in her life. The star admitted that she was once addicted not only to alcohol but also to marijuana.
According to the celebrity, at a certain point she realized that if she didn't give up harmful substances right now, she would be "in the abyss." So since then, she has been leading a healthy lifestyle.
