Ears drooping - eyes watching: 7 failed Eurovision performances in the history of the contest. Video

The international song contest Eurovision has been held since 1956. For almost 70 years it has given people a lot of hits and new bright artists. And also - wacky performances, which went down in history because of their excessive creativity.

We offer to remember the most memorable to the audience failed numbers at Eurovision (which is not good news for performers). Read more in the article OBOZREVATEL.

Dustin The Turkey - Irelande Douze Pointe.

Ireland has received the most crystal microphones over all the years of Eurovision - 7 times. The last victory was in 1996. And in 2008, it seems, decided not to bother.

The country sent to the contest a toy turkey Dustin (Dustin Turkey) from a local TV show for children, which performed the song "Irelande Douze Pointe" ("12 Points Ireland") in recitative. During the performance, dancers in gold costumes with feathers circled around the plush artist. As a result, the Irishman finished 15th in the rankings, having failed to make it past the first semi-final.

By the way, this character was on the live broadcast of the first semi-final of Eurovision 2023. He frightened presenters Julia Sanina and Hannah Veddingham with his sudden appearance. "It's great to be back at Eurovision. Incredible atmosphere, incredibly brilliant. I want to wish everyone the best of luck for tonight. Just have fun and be yourself, even if it takes a little pinching," Dustin said. Hannah replied, "Wise words adorn you, cheeky, screaming, and little turkey. Thanks for coming back!".

2. LT United - We are the Winners

In 2006 the Lithuanian band LT United performed on the Eurovision stage. It was created especially for the song contest. The group consisted of 6 best pop and rock musicians, who came on stage in solid suits and sang "We are the Winners of Eurovision! Vote for us!" In fact, no further meaning was put into the lyrics. Overconfidence did not help the Lithuanians win first place. Their mantra did not bribe the audience and the jury.

Daz Sampson - Teenage Life

At Eurovision, not everyone has to fight to get to the finals. According to the rules of the contest, the performers representing the Big Five countries should not participate in the semifinals. We are talking about Spain, Germany, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

Apparently, this is why the British in 2006 was not worried about the results. Back then, Daz Sampson performed on stage with the song Teenage Life. To put it mildly, it was strange for the audience to watch a grown man dancing on stage, reciting teenage rap.

4. Ping Pong - Sa'me'akh

In 2000, the Israeli group Ping Pong performed a song Sa'me'akh that was more like a parody of people at karaoke than a contest performance. They bizarrely danced and shouted more than sang. In some places, they did not hit the notes. The artists took 22nd place with their number.

5. Kreisiraadio - Summer Light

In 2008, a trio of comedians Kreisiraadio went to the Eurovision Song Contest from Estonia. The artists in bright costumes performed the song Leto Svet in Finnish, German, and partially in Serbian. During the performance, models in leather leotards and short skirts danced next to each other. However, the lack of vocals, incomprehensible wordplay, and strange staging gave not victory, but a flurry of criticism.

6. Krassimir Avramov - Illusion

Krassimir Avramov represented Bulgaria at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. He tried to fight for victory with the song Illusion. Backing singers in colorful outfits performed with him. The jury and the audience were not pleased with the singing of the artists. The networks wrote that Avramov and his team were howling.

7. Donatan & Cleo - My Slowianie

Cleo had to perform during the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 without her colleague Donatan. She sang My Slowianie and was accompanied by photo models in national costumes. In general, the number was bright, and fiery, but also vulgar. During the performance, the girls walked around the stage with deep cleavage, and then one of them pretended to churn butter, and the other - to wash underwear. Their movements were too revealing. In spite of this, the performers placed ninth in the finals.
