Baby Lasagna commented on his unexpected second place at Eurovision 2024: the singer set a Croatian record

The Croatian singer Baby Lasagna told whether he was happy to be the runner-up at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Croatian singer Baby Lasagna assured that he was happy that his country took second place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, but he would have been even happier if he had won. The artist noted that participating in the song contest was wonderful and at the same time tense.

The singer said that his team gave their best during the performance, reports the Eurovision House. It is worth noting that Baby Lasagna got the best result for his country in the history of the contest. Croatia ended up with 547 points.

"It was great and intense, it was really exciting. I'm happy that we came in second, of course I would have been even happier to come in first. I think we gave our best and the audience showed that we did a good job. We can be proud of the fact that we came second," the artist said.

The singer also addressed the audience on Instagram. He thanked the audience for their support and assured them that no matter what place he got, he would do his best on stage during the performance.

"I wanted to take a second to say thank you. I can't even describe how you have changed everything in my life. You talked about how my music helped you, how it influenced you. But I have to tell you that your love, your support has affected me. And it's made me, I don't know what it means, but I feel great, I'm grateful. Whatever happened, I did my best," said Baby Lasagna.

As a reminder, the Croatian singer Baby Lasagna with the song "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" was predicted to win by bookmakers. His chances were 42%. So the second place was unexpected for the singer.

According to experts, Eden Golan from Israel should have won the silver medal. Bookmakers put 19% on her victory. Despite the anti-Israeli protests and booing during the show, Golan confidently held on to the top three.

According to the bookmakers' forecasts, Switzerland would finish in the top 3. The representative of Nemo with the song "The Code" won the hearts of European fans. Professionals gave them the third place, betting 15% on their victory.

Baby Lasagna was actually the first understudy at the National Selection in their home country in case one of the first 24 candidates refused to participate. That's exactly what happened, so after one of the musicians withdrew, the silver medalist was announced as a participant of Dora 2024. No big bets were made on him, but he later gained favor not only among his compatriots but also among Euro fans from all over the world.

Interestingly, the Ukrainian jury helped to choose the Croatian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest. In particular, because the Croats have their own atypical selection system: the winner is determined by the results of the audience vote (50%), as well as the national (25%) and international jury (25%).

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that the winner of Eurovision 2024 caused a wave of discussion online.
