After the Eurovision Song Contest failure and scandal: Moldovan singer cries to Russians after being kicked out of the show

The singer from Moldova cried to the Russians, who were kicked out of the show

Moldovan singer Natalia Barbu, who did not qualify for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 and sharply criticized the competition, appeared in a Russian documentary in which she complained about the song contest. In the announcement for the upcoming movie, the singer assures that the show that viewers see on TV and what actually happens are two completely different things.

Although Barbu has participated in the contest twice, the artist noted on her social media that she is finally ready to show the other side of Eurovision and open up to the audience by taking off her mask. Interestingly, the production of the film is the responsibility of the Votvot service, which positions itself as a Russian-language streaming platform of Radio Liberty, created at the request of the voices that have been targeted and silenced by the Putin regime, launched in April 2023.

In the teaser for the upcoming movie, the team that worked on its creation openly criticizes the annual competition. For her part, the Moldovan singer said that she did not feel comfortable because she was constantly afraid of being judged by others.

"Why do I have to constantly think that someone might not like me or be different? The show on TV and the audience are completely different things. In general, my song and I don't seem to be from here. I often felt like a stranger," the singer commented on her feelings.

Another interesting point is that after failing at Eurovision 2024, Natalia Barbu decided to star in a project by Russians who were suspended from the contest due to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The announcement was not without the well-known narrative that "music is beyond politics."

In addition, the Moldovan woman noted that her audience is hardly "mentally ready for Europe," which the developers of the teaser added a video with footage of queer people to confirm.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that Moldova's representative at Eurovision 2024, Natalia Barbu, who did not make it to the final, sharply criticized the contest and its fans. The singer shared a post by one of her fans, in which she said: "I am proud of Moldova! We do not compete with nudist demons! If others think it is better to promote prostitution and do not appreciate human values and the qualities of a work that promotes beauty, then we will appreciate it!"
