23-year-old fan died at Taylor Swift concert: what happened and what was the singer's reaction
23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides died right at the concert of her favorite singer Taylor Swift in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which was part of The Eras Tour. According to doctors, the cause of the fan's cardiac arrest was probably the abnormal heat. The world-famous American singer and songwriter has already responded to the tragedy.
The girl became ill at the stadium before the show. People around her tried to help her, but it was in vain. This was reported by the Brazilian edition of Fohla De Sao Paolo.
The cause of death was cardiovascular arrest. The deterioration of Ana's condition was affected by the abnormal heat. The source notes that the air temperature reached 40 degrees that day. At the same time, the stadium did not have air conditioning and security guards forbade people to bring water to the concert. Only those fans who had seats in the stands could buy drinks.
It is noted that Swift asked the organizers to provide water for all concert-goers. However, there were simply not enough bottles for the crowd of thousands.
Benevides fainted under the scorching sun. She was rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital. Despite the doctors' efforts, they were unable to save the girl, pronouncing her dead.
After the tragic incident, Swift reached out to her fans. In her Instagram stories, she wrote, "I can't believe I'm writing these words, but I'm heartbroken to say that we lost a fan tonight before my show. I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this. I have very little information, other than the fact that she was incredibly beautiful and too young. I couldn't talk about it from the stage because I get overwhelmed with grief when I just try to talk about it. What I want to say now is that I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart aches with her family and friends. I could not even imagine that something like this could happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil."
Later, the artist made an additional appeal, informing that her other concerts in Rio had to be canceled due to abnormal temperatures. The singer is worried that this may happen again to her fans or team members.
"It was decided to postpone tonight's show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio. The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers and crew must and will always come first," Swift said.
According to Brazilian journalists, it was not only Ana Clara Benevides who was injured at the concert. Many other spectators also fainted and were taken to the hospital. Fortunately, the lives of the other patients are currently not in danger.
