Macron names the condition under which Putin will be invited to the G20 summit in Brazil

French President Emmanuel Macron has named the condition under which Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin will be invited to the G20 summit in Brazil. According to him, this requires the consent of all other members of this association.

He made the statement at a joint press conference with Brazilian President Lula da Silva during his visit to the country. This was reported by arabnews.

Macron emphasized that the decision to potentially invite Putin to the summit, scheduled for November 18-19, should be "consensual."

He explained that the meaning of the G20 "is that there must be a consensus with the nineteen other (members – Ed.)," adding that this should be done by "Brazilian diplomacy" due to this year's presidency of this country.

Macron also noted that if Putin's participation at the summit would be useful, it should take place. However, he warned that disagreement on this issue could invalidate any invitation to Russia.

Although Russia is still a member of the G20, Putin completely missed the previous two summits because of Russia's war in Ukraine.

It is worth noting that Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said that his government will not take measures to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin. As a reminder, the warrant for his arrest was issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), and the leader of the aggressor country is suspected of forcibly deporting Ukrainian children to Russia.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin would be invited to the G20 summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2024. He did not directly answer the question of whether the Russian president would be detained, but he did not rule out such a development.
