Germany expels Russian diplomats en masse, Moscow responds with 'mirror' measures

Germany has decided to massively expel Russian diplomats. Moscow said it would take mirror measures in this case.

German diplomats will also be expelled from Russia, the aggressor country's foreign ministry said, according to propaganda media. Russia viewed Berlin's decision as "hostile actions" and "strongly condemned them".

Moscow said that Germany "continues to demonstratively destroy the entire array of Russian-German relations, including their diplomatic dimension". Therefore, in addition to the expulsion of German diplomats, the number of German diplomatic missions in Russia will also be limited, as the Foreign Ministry has already informed Ambassador Gez Andreas von Geyr.

The Russians also accused the Germans of "breaking their assurances of not wanting to publicise the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats" because they had informed the media about their "idea".

As a reminder, Russian diplomats have generally become "outcasts" in the world, facing boycotts and ridicule. In particular, representatives of the United States, the United Kingdom, Albania and Malta defiantly left an informal meeting of the UN Security Council when the Russian Children's Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova was delivering a speech. They did not want to sit at the table with an official who is on the international wanted list for abducting Ukrainian children.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

- In late March, it became known that Germany wanted to take action against Russian spies. It was planned to expel more than 30 Russian diplomats from the country;

- Russian embassies in Europe are engaged in electronic intelligence using antennas installed in diplomatic missions. This way, their special agents can intercept cellular and secure satellite communications;

- In general, the European Union seeks to reduce the number of Russian citizens on its territory in order to minimise the number of Russian spies. For this reason, 750 Russian diplomats were expelled from Europe and their wives were offered pizza delivery jobs.
