Defending civilians: the son of a Ukrainian defender was killed in action in southern Lebanon. Photos
Israeli Defense Forces soldier Nazar Itkin was killed in action in southern Lebanon. The 22-year-old soldier was the son of a Ukrainian defender and gave his life protecting the civilian population of Israel.
This was reported by Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Azman and Israelinfo. Nazar Itkin was a soldier of the "Egoz" special forces unit.
"Staff Sergeant Nazar Itkin from Kiryat Ata, a soldier of the "Egoz" unit, commando division, was killed in action in southern Lebanon," local media wrote.
Nazar's father, Davyd Itkin, despite his elderly age, stood up to defend our country from the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. He joined the terrorist defense, defended the Kyiv region, and later took part in battles in the Kharkiv sector.
"It is with deep sadness that I express my condolences to our parishioner Davyd Itkin, whose son Nazar was killed defending the civilian population of Israel... This is another proof that the war in Ukraine and Israel is one common grief," the rabbi said.
As a reminder, the IDF has officially commented on its actions in southern Lebanon. They noted that Hezbollah has openly stated that it plans to repeat last year's attack on Israel's northern border on an even larger scale. To prevent them from ever being able to carry out such an attack, the IDF is taking measures, in particular, it has launched an operation in southern Lebanon.
