Britain's intelligence agency explains why Russia does not use its "best" missiles to strike Ukraine and what is behind the drone attacks on Kyiv

Russia has refrained from launching its "best" air-to-air cruise missiles from its fleet of heavy bombers for almost two months. This has likely allowed it to build up a significant stockpile of these weapons before the onset of winter.

Russia is likely to use these missiles to resume last year's attempts to destroy Ukraine's critical infrastructure. This is stated in an intelligence report by the British Ministry of Defense published on Tuesday, November 21.

On November 18-19, 2023, Russia launched approximately 50 Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles of Iranian origin, mainly towards Kyiv. The occupiers launched these drones in two directions in waves, heading east from Kursk and southeast from Krasnodar.

The ministry's report notes that one of the likely goals of these Russian attacks was to degrade Ukraine's air defense and create a zone for a possible coordinated winter campaign to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

Earlier, British intelligence reported that relatives of the Russian occupiers held the first public street protest in Moscow after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Police dispersed the protesters within minutes. Still, their demands indicate an increase in tension within the Russian Federation.

As a reminder, British analysts have reported that the occupation forces have huge supply problems. The invaders have been sitting in the mud in the trenches for weeks, wearing uniforms that do not have time to dry and cannot even warm themselves with a cup of tea. They also complain about "monotonous food".
