Ukraine needs real peace, not appeasement of the aggressor. Europe also needs it because appleased Russia will not stop in Ukraine and will move on.

This was stated by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha at a meeting with the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell. The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy arrived in Kyiv as part of his final visit to the country.

"It is here, in Ukraine, that the future of the European global security architecture is being decided. Everyone needs to realize that appeasement of the aggressor will not work. We need real peace," the Ukrainian diplomat said.

Otherwise, Russia will not get tired and will not stop in Ukraine. The sanction policy is working, but the sanctions adopted are not enough. If there is no counteraction, Russia will be ready to produce 30% more artillery shells than all EU countries, Sybiha noted.

"I am referring to the shadow fleet that helps Russia trade oil. It is very important that the sanctions actions of the allies focus on this aspect," the Ukrainian diplomat emphasized.

In turn, Borrell also said that "it's not enough to stop the enemy, you have to strike; you insist on this and it is quite right."

The head of European diplomacy noted that "Ukraine doesn't need applauses; President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people don't need standing ovations". What is the most important, he added, is "to provide tanks, fighter jets, air defences and ammunition." Europe's support for Ukraine remains unchanged, Borrell emphasized.

"You don't fight a war without the military capacity that you need. And I have been constantly pushing for more and faster. This has been my permanent call. We have to do more and faster. More military support, more training capacities, more money, faster supplies, and also the permission to strike the enemy’s military targets on its territory," he said.
