Air Defense Forces shot down all 89 Shaheds launched by Russia at Ukraine: it was one of the most massive attacks

On the night of July 31, Russian occupation forces launched 89 Shaheds and one Kh-59 guided missile against Ukraine. All air targets were neutralized by the defenders of Ukrainian skies.

Mykola Oleshchuk, the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, reported on the results of the Ukrainian air defense in Telegram. He noted that it was one of the most massive attacks by Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs. The enemy used the same number of attack drones on New Year's Eve, January 1, 2024.

According to Oleshchuk, the occupants launched air targets from the areas of Yeysk, Seshcha, Kursk, Prymorsko-Akhtarsk.

"All 89 of the Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs detected by the Air Force radar units were shot down," the Air Force commander emphasized.

Mobile firing groups of all the Ukrainian Defense Forces, tactical aviation of the Air Force and Army aviation of the Ground Forces, anti-aircraft missile units and electronic warfare units of the Air Force took part in repelling the attack.

"We also shot down a Kh-59 guided missile used by the enemy to attack Mykolaiv region," added Oleshchuk.

The Telegram channel "Intelligence of Ukraine" published a map of the movement of enemy air targets during the night of July 31.

Kyiv region

The occupiers carried out the seventh attack on Kyiv by enemy drones in July, said Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. It was the most massive for the capital in 2024 in terms of the number of UAVs used. More than 30 drones were destroyed in the airspace of the capital and on the outskirts of the air defense system. According to preliminary reports, no damage or casualties were reported in Kyiv as a result of the attack.

A residential building caught fire as a result of the fall of the drone debris. The building was partially destroyed. Rescuers extinguished the fire. No one was killed or injured, the State Emergency Service reported on Telegram.

Dnipropetrovsk region

The head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Lysak reported in Telegram that air defense systems shot down 6 "Shaheds" over the region . The aggressor hit Nikopol, Pokrovska and Marhanetska communities. They also used a kamikaze drone and artillery.

"A social institution was damaged. One car was destroyed, another one was damaged. People were not injured," noted Lysak.

Mykolaiv region

The head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Kim said that on the night of July 31, the regional air defense destroyed one guided missile and four UAVs of the "Shahed 131/136" type.

Kherson region

Last night in Kherson region, air defense forces shot down 9 Shaheds launched by the occupiers, said the head of the regional military administration Oleksandr Prokudin.

Poltava region.

The head of the Poltava regional military administration, Philip Pronin, said that the air raid in Poltava region lasted more than 11 hours.

"During this time, residents of the region could hear sounds similar to explosions, air defense was operating in the region. Ours worked hard," the official said.

According to him, no casualties or hits were recorded in the region.

Cherkasy region

The head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets, reported on Telegram that the air alert in the region lasted almost 10 hours.

"According to preliminary data, as a result of the combat work of mobile firing groups and electronic warfare, minus 4 enemy UAVs were detected within the region," he said, adding that there was no information about casualties or property damage.

As a reminder, in the evening of July 30, explosions were heard in Kyiv region - air defense systems were activated there. Before that, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned of the threat of enemy use of ballistic weapons.

According to monitoring channels, the enemy had previously launched ballistic missiles from the territory of the Voronezh region of the Russian Federation.
